New haute cuisine restaurants keep popping up in Rio de Janeiro . The latest one is Lasai, by the chef Rafa Costa e Silva, former chef of Mugaritz, the award-winning Spanish restaurant .

In a gorgeous salon at Rua Conde de Irajá, a street full of trendy restaurants, Lasai, with its cement floors, leather seats and wood furnishings, receives 44 diners per night, and reservations are hard to come by.

The chef offers two set menus, with all items freshly sourced from organic markets. The Festival option offers 15 dishes chosen by the chef. If you don’t like this idea, you can ask for the Não Me Conte Histórias menu, whereby the customer chooses what to eat. Lasai’s food has been highly praised by the critics.

I haven’t been to this brand new restaurant yet, but as soon as I set foot in Rio, that's where I'm going .
