practically ephemeral and thus almost forgotten in time? Well, let's just say that we get a chance to see such an work created by none other than Pop art sensation Roy Lichenstein. In 1983 the artist created a large-scale mural for the Leo Castelli and his Street Gallery, a continuation of some works he was exhibiting at the time. When the show ended, the mural was painted over (so sad, but it was never meant to be a permanent installation!)

Well, the years went by and there began to be talk about reproducing the artwork (being true to the Lichenstein process, which is all about reproduction). Now, the mural's replica can now be admired at the Gagosian on West 24th. The re-creators say the replica isn't exactly alike - paints and colors diverge - but I'm sure I'll be delighted anyways!
