At their famous Fall Gala, the New York City Ballet will be presenting three world premières. However, the dancers will not be the only stars attracting media attention, as some of the world’s most renowned designers have been asked to design costumes for the occasion. This year’s event, which takes place on September 23rd, will feature tutus and bodices designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, Mary Katranzou, Valentino Garavani, Carolina Herrera, and Thom Browne.
The costumes will be showcased in an entirely new piece of choreography, as well as in a reinterpretations of two other ballets.
The New York City Ballet has previously enjoyed collaborations with Rodarte, Prabal Gurung, Iris Van Herpen, Joseph Altuzarra and Olivier Theyskens, to name but a few! And for those who have never seen the NYC Ballet, I highly recommend the experience. It is breathtakingly gorgeous.
