Those who live outside Brazil often really miss the food, especially those dishes that can’t be made ithout Brazilian ingredients.

Many have to learn to live without the Brigadeiro, because condensed milk is hard to find when you’re abroad. But did you know that you can make the chocolate-based sweet without it? As a bonus, it becomes much healthier. Follow the recipe below and enjoy!

• 11⁄2 cups of milk

• 4 tablespoons cocoa powder (without sugar, if you prefer)

• 2 tablespoons butter

• 2 tablespoons sugar (or sweetener)

Heat the milk and add the chocolate powder. Stir well to dissolve. Add the sugar (or sweetener) and butter. Keep stirring well for about 15 minutes, or until it begins to thicken. When it has nearly thickened, lower the heat and stir until the syrup becomes thick. Turn off the heat and leave for 10 minutes. Roll the mixture onto chocolate sprinkles and serve!
